Depleted Uranium
How you can win the population for war: At first, the statesman will invent cheap lying, that impute the guilt of the attacked nation, and each person will be happy over this deceit, that calm the conscience. It will study it detailed and refuse to test arguments of the other opinion. So he will convince step for step even there from that the war is just and thank God, that he, after this process of grotesque even deceit, can sleep better: Mark Twain
War: first, one hopes to win; then one expects the enemy to lose; then, one is satisfied that he too is suffering; in the end, one is surprised that everyone has lost. : Karl Kraus (1874–1936)
Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph: Haile Selassie
Lisa rolled her eyes and looked skywards in disgust at the term Depleted Uranium.
The double-speak term was crafted to imply some kind of harmlessness of the radioactive material yet over 500,000 suffering ‘Gulf War’ veterans painted the actual picture. The current conflicts can be fully called Nuclear Wars through the usage of DU weapons. The Kosovo invasion by NATO ushered in these killers and the birth defects seen today confirm the usage.
The long-term effects have revealed that DU (uranium oxide) is a virtual death sentence and is the perfect weapon to kill many thousands of civilians even though the deaths are painful and occur many years after being used. And the soldiers who also get maimed and killed are collateral damage also. The fact that ‘collateral’ damage verbiage was a financial term wasn’t wasted on Lisa either. People are just that. Collateral. Nothing more.
Biological, chemical and nuclear weapons damage the bodies of humans in distinct ways. The first employs deadly bacteria and viruses to cause known illnesses. The second uses poisonous, or toxic, substances to attack the body's chemistry. Nuclear weapons attack the body with invisible radioactive energy and the radioactive heavy metal particles embedded in the body are both radioactive and toxic. All three of these weapons have been banned by international treaties thus making their use illegal. And the reason they are banned alongside land mines is because the indiscriminate killing is uncontrollable and lasts years.
Is this the sum apex of our achievements of science Lisa mused?
And these weapons are used daily over the world with neither minimal outrage nor media coverage. And many of those who do learn of it just sigh and turn away.
More than 340 tons of D.U. projectiles were used in the 1991 Gulf War at targets in Iraq and Kuwait and to date more than 1,000 tons of DU has been used in Afghanistan and more than 3,000 tons in Iraq.
Where does depleted uranium come from because it is not a natural isotope? It doesn't occur in nature. Normal mined uranium has to be “processed' to remove less than one half of one percent of a special kind of uranium called U-235. Weapons makers use U-235 to make thermonuclear bombs that can explode with a force equivalent to 100 million tons of TNT.
U-235 is also used to make fuel rods for nuclear reactors. Spent fuel rods are extremely radioactive for many years and will kill any person near them in ten seconds. Science has yet to find solutions to safely dispose of used fuel rods thus causing thousands of tons of deadly radioactive used fuel rods to be temporarily stored for over half a century.
That was until some sinister mind thought of encasing them in artillery shells and tipping the points of ammunition with it, land mines and of course missiles. This readily removed the issue of responsible disposal of the rods from a vile and dangerous electricity industry. It also served the pathological needs of a killing industry.
A D.U shell bursts into flames as soon as it leaves the delivery device. When it hits a target, as much as 70 percent burns on impact at a high temperature, releasing into the air billions of invisible radioactive particles. This infinitesimally fine dust of aerosolized uranium oxide consists of metallic micro-particles that are smaller than viruses or bacteria. The hard spent nuclear reactor rods piece the target armor and shatter into billions of particles to be spread by winds and rain.
They shoot the reactor rods.
And the world is told they are safe to use in the media.
D.U. is "depleted" only in the sense that more highly radioactive forms of uranium have been partially removed and the remaining ‘depleted’ uranium, mainly U-238, is still highly radioactive and dangerous. And this is fully known to the weapons scientists.
But somehow this wasn’t enough for the military. The D.U. weapons used in Iraq and Afghanistan have in addition to U-238, plutonium, neptunium, and the extremely highly radioactive uranium isotope U-236. These additional additives are 100,000 times more dangerous than the U-238 in so-called depleted uranium. Lisa wryly thought of a whole new method to recycle waste.
U-236 is a man-made metal which is created inside nuclear reactors and is intensely radioactive. This deadly U-236 has been found in the urine of Iraq and Afghan citizens and on the ground next to bomb craters. There are no known methods to heal the poisoning – or is there? Once again Lisa could not believe that the elite ranks in military would expose themselves to unnecessary risks. They never have done so in the history of warfare.
Depleted uranium poisoning causes virtually every known illness from skin rashes, muscle and joint pain, and general fatigue and headaches, to extreme birth defects, susceptibility to infection, cardiovascular disease, brain tumors, and every other type of cancer
Rare media reports have reported serious levels of depleted uranium particles reached Europe just nine hours after the 2003 attack on Iraq and the winds will carry it world wide with no method known to stop it.
And Lisa turned her mind to the karmic laws. From the scientists who created the weapons, from the bombardiers who fire them through to the law makers who request and authorized their use, and to the troops who abrogated their own inner choices by not saying NO to such murder, Lisa began to see a much larger and purposeful scenario as to why things were so.
But Lisa was also dumfounded. In all of the research she had done so far on her journey of awakening, she just could not comprehend that these activities were taking place. The bizarre deeds were just too inhuman to conceive possible and yet they were taking place. Every day.
